film screening curated by Martyna Starosta

Thursday / 22 April / 8 pm

In her essay "Politics of Truth - Documentarismen in the Art Field" Hito Steyerl distinguishes two contrasting approaches. On the one hand, the "flat" documentary which imparts knowledge trough reporter-term notes or trough "intimist forms of" quasi-sociological, without reflecting their own production and distribution terms. In contrast of the presentation of this supposed truth of politics, she refers to self-reflexive forms which seek the "politics of truth" to change.
This approach also includes the reflection on one's connection to institutions, political and social discourses or biopolitical technologies.

FATZERMOBIL
The disillusioned view at circumstances within no revolution can be expected anymore during lifetime.  A production by Robert Burghardt, Sönke Hallmann, Elske Rosenfeld, Inga Zimprich

Presentation: Monday / 26 April / 7 pm

Fatzer is a place for writing.
As the figure had been rejected by B.Brecht and picked up again by Heiner Müller in the end of the 70s it indicates a thinking space, which focuses on the question of the possibilities of political action, given the understanding that a revolution - as the fundamental reorganization of social relations - is in the unlikely now. The Fatzermobil assembles documents and artifacts of political action and joins them to a device, a mobile stage on which they can be performed outside their lost area of influence. The mobile is part of an ongoing conversation based on materials and questions from the work of those who are involved. more

Revolution – What Revolution? Against what, what for, with whom and how?

–žPostmodern philosophy privileges heterogeneity, difference and pluralism. Repetition and difference have taken over the place of the new and the identity. All identities (ideas of entity) are regarded as simulated and generated, like an optical effect created through the game of repetition and difference. –œ (Marion Strunk1)

Is political art dead?
Statements and prognoses of theoreticians, scientists, curators and artists give reason for this diagnosis.

Does the –œability of art to criticise the world and life beyond its own realm and even by doing that, change both– no longer exist because contemporary art manages itself without a practice of critical self-reflexivity? (Boris Buden2)

Does –œpolitics via art– still exist or does one limits on –œart with politics–? (Kube Ventura3)

Revolution – an insider game – –œa domestic policy within the producers circle– (Kube Ventura4) - a resistance from the insular going against its self drawn lines?
A game of repetition?

Like this we are shifting artistically (artificially) through discourses, from plateau to plateau - circular, determined, deterritorialized, neoliberal, geoliberal, transaggressive and in general politically correct - always accompanied by the illusionary demand, to create the political place by taking action?
Are we twittering through the world from inside the insular knots of our laptops – are we floating as loose modules – ready to dock if efficient?

Revolt she said (Julia Kristeva5) – an aged voice is whispering out of the depths of history – remaining present as an echo of binary dialogues – noise?

Evolution as solution?

How critical, how resistant are we, against what we refer our resistance?
How does resistance change us?
An inner revolution?

How are political postures and art practice configured which devote themselves to the theme and claim socially impact, reveal power structures and hierarchies? And consequentially - how are methods, technique and self-understanding of contemporary art collectives are designed?

Is there a development, an evolution or a pre-programmed failure?

Revolution? – arttransponder invites to an excursion.

Tatjana Fell
